Underfloor Heating Benefits

Cost Effective

Installing a warm-water underfloor heating system in your home can result in reduced heating costs for homeowners. This is because wet (hydronic) underfloor heating  can run at a much lower temperature than traditional radiator systems. Our underfloor heating systems cover a large surface area and are low profile, meaning pipes are held close to the floor surface for fast and efficient heat output.

Improved Comfort

Wet underfloor heating provides improved comfort compared to traditional radiator systems. Warm water underfloor heating radiates heat gently upwards from the floor, making floors warm to the touch. As underfloor heating pipes are spread across the floor surface, heat is distributed evenly, eliminating the cold spots and draughts associated with radiators.

Safe Solution

Underfloor heating is commonly regarded as one of the safest heating solutions in homes. All pipe work is located beneath the floor surface, with none of the exposed hot surfaces or sharp edges associated with traditional radiators. This makes it a very safe option for homes with young children or elderly residents. What’s more, underfloor heating also benefits allergy sufferers as it emits a gentle heat from below,   significantly reducing any dust movement in the air  which  could aggravate conditions.

Low Carbon

Homeowners are increasingly looking for a low-carbon heating solution, whether in a new home or for installation as part of a renovation project. Both the Profix® Panel and the Profix® PLUS Panel can be used as an integral part of a warm-water underfloor heating system powered by a heat pump. Using an air source heat pump (ASHP) to power your warm-water underfloor heating system provides a low-carbon solution which not only reduces energy costs but, as the electricity grid continues to de-carbonise, reduces the carbon footprint of your home.

Hidden Heating Solution

All Profix® and Profix® PLUS systems  are discreet heating solutions, with all the pipework hidden beneath the floor (or wall) surface. This not only removes the need for unsightly radiators but frees up wall space, making it an ideal solution for modern open plan layouts or homes where space is at a premium.

Plumber/Installer

Installing a warm-water underfloor heating system comes with some practical installation considerations. Although warm-water underfloor heating provides the customer with a number of significant benefits in terms of energy efficiency and running costs, it can be more complex to install compared with traditional radiators. With this in mind, both our Profix® and Profix® PLUS panels have ease and speed of installation at the core of their design.

Within their patented design, Profix® and Profix® PLUS panels have many time-saving features including self-adhesive backing, V-notch channels to simplify cutting the panels to size using just a Stanley knife, purpose made locking features to fasten the panels together during installation, and multiple pipe-retaining clips to ensure the UFH pipework is held securely in place at the correct pipe centres. In addition, their unique design helps protect the pipework during installation.

Cost Effective

All Profix® and Profix® PLUS systems have been designed to be cost effective. The panels feature multiple time-saving devices within their design, helping cut installation time by up to 30%. This results in substantial cost savings which can in turn be passed on to the customer, helping gain an edge over competitors in the marketplace.

Low Profile

Often the primary concern when installing a warm-water underfloor heating system over an existing floor is how much the new underfloor heating system will increase the floor height. To avoid excavating, or significantly altering an existing floor to create sufficient depth, the 15mm Profix® Panel for 10mm to 12mm diameter pipe and the 20mm Profix® PLUS Panel for 14mm to 17mm diameter pipe each enable a low-profile solution to be achieved.

Choice of Systems

Profix® and Profix® PLUS panels can be used on solid floors, suspended timber floors, or as part of an acoustic floor heating solution on separating floors. Options include embedded systems, where the UFH pipework is buried in either a thin levelling compound or a thin flowing screed, or alternatively dry-fit solutions incorporating dry screed replacement boards (plain or pre-grooved) or flooring grade chipboard (or equivalent) for those wishing to avoid wet trades.

Compatible with Heat Pumps

As the UK continues to cut carbon emissions to achieve net-zero by 2050, it is clear the government views heat pumps as an integral part of the solution. Profix® and Profix® PLUS systems enable a low-temperature/low-carbon warm-water underfloor heating solution to be achieved when powered by a heat pump. An air source heat pump (ASHP) can reduce carbon emissions by up to 60% compared to a condensing boiler.
